There is one question that pops in the mind of all the website owners or the bloggers – how does Google determine the relevancy of any webpage? This is no longer a secret now. Ranking of the web pages is what each website owners discerns. Google makes use of each of the following elements for determining the ranking criteria.
The first factor is the location of the keywords and the phrases on the webpage. Take for example, that a user searches for “writer,” Google ranks the results as to where does the word ‘writer’ appears on the page. The higher the word appears on the page, higher is the page rank. Thus, a website containing the word ‘writer’ in the title tag is more likely to earn a higher page rank that the website that does not list this word in the title tag. This clearly draws out the significance of SEO planning, while designing any website.
The other important factor is the frequency – number of times the search word or phrase appears on the web page. Considering the same example of the word ‘writer’, the page using the word five times will obviously get a notch over the page using it maybe three times. But, here is another cardinal point that you must not ignore! Finding out that word relevancy is a determinant for page rank, many web site designers indulged in two fraudulent techniques: one was to use the keyword a large number of times in the content; second was to use the hidden words large number of times on the pages for artificially boosting their web sites. These techniques do not work with Google. With Goggle you need to be careful, as Goggle clearly outlines this as keyword spamming and might altogether abstain from ranking such pages. So, my suggestion is to follow natural way and limit the keyword density to 3-5% on each web page.
The third key determinants are the Links on the web page. It’s not just the number of the links present on your website, but it is also the type of the links present on the web page that will affect the ranking of the web pages. Google takes into consideration the links that lead out of the site, links leading into the site, and also the internal linking. But still it isn’t necessary that greater the number of links you have pointing towards your website, the higher will be your ranking!!! To be more precise, it’s actually the number of relevant links (related to the content present on the web pages), in contrast to the number of outgoing relevant links, in contrast to the relevant internal linking of the web pages that has a bearing on the ranks attained by your web pages.
Last but not the least is the Click-throughs. Another significant determinant used by Google is the number of click-throughs on your website in contrast to the click-throughs on the other pages appearing in the search results. Google carefully monitors the number of clicks received by each search result. Thus interaction with the users also repositions the rankings in the future.
Keeping all the above factors in mind, I probably hope that you will get a clarity of the basics of raking the value of your web pages in Google.
